Musical Book Signing with David Weinstone & Groove!  Friday, October 9, 2015 at 4:00 PM. Weinstone, creator of Music for Aardvarks, introduces his debut picture book with special guest Lesley Barovick from Groove! This is a ticketed event ($20) which includes a copy of the book. Advance purchase recommended as space is limited. With energetic and bright illustrations, this reassuring story about the courage it sometimes takes to try something new will resonate with children everywhere. Celebrate Banned Books Week.  Sunday, September 27 through Saturday, October 3, 2015. There were over 300 challenges to books in schools and libraries around the country last year alone. Banned Books week alerts the public that censorship is still a problem, even in the United States. Meet the Beatles! With author Susanna Reich.  Saturday, September 19th at 3:00 PM. Author and acclaimed researcher Susanna Reich (Minette’s Feast) tells the Beatles’ story before they became the world renowned band that shaped a generation. Told through a lyrical text and stunning paintings, this book spotlights four ordinary boys growing up amid the rubble of postwar England who found music to be a powerful, even life-saving, force. Plus we’ll have a Beatles sing-along! (All ages)

Food Drive at The Voracious Reader.  Now through October 31, 2015.
