Have you read these books?  The Hunger Games, The Fault in Our Stars, Everyday, Eleanor & Park, Crank, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Speak, Thirteen Reasons Why…Most teens have!  Join the conversation.  For adults.  As part of Writopia Lab’s series of panels addressing issues of literacy and culture, Lena Roy (YA author and Writopia Lab Manager/Instructor) will lead an open discussion of contemporary young adult literature, featuring a panel of experts in the field:  editor/publisher Julie Straus-Gabel, children’s bookseller Gen de Botton, school librarian Susan Polos, clinical social worker Heidi Haas.  Topics include YA novels that explore: love, personal challenge, and growth; mature themes; emotional and physical violence; dystopian fantasies; cultural, race or gender identity.  Sunday, April 27th, 3-5pm at Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY.  Light refreshments will be included.  $50 per ticket.
