The PKD Foundation

in Non-Profits

The PKD Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit and is the only organization world-wide dedicated solely to finding a cure for polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and advocating for those who are affected by it.  PKD affects 1 out of every 500 people; 600,000 in the United States alone.  It causes cysts to grow on the kidneys leading to kidney failure in both children and adults, and can also cause hypertension, aneurysms, and cysts in other organs.  There is no treatment or cure yet, but the PKD Foundation is working to change that.  On a local level, the Hudson Valley Chapter offers educational and support meetings throughout the year addressing the needs of both ARPKD and ADPKD families, holds several annual fundraisers, and takes part in advocacy efforts relating to the needs of PKD patients.  For more information contact HudsonValleyChapter@pkdcure.org or visit www.pkdcure.org/hudsonvalleychapter.
