Riverkeeper fights David-and-Goliath battles for your right to safe, drinkable water and a healthy Hudson.  We need your help to win these battles.  Here are just a few things we could do with your support for Riverkeeper:  Donations to our Watershed Program will help us take the battle over fracking right to the oil and gas industry, which is trying to profit from New York’s natural resources at terrible cost to our water quality and quality of life.  Support our Hudson River Program and our Close Indian Point campaign and we’ll fight for the clean energy solutions that we New Yorkers so desperately need to replace old, ecologically-destructive power plants. With your help, our Patrol Boat will be back on the Hudson, testing water quality, nailing polluters and protecting your right to enjoy the river safely. Visit www.riverkeeper.org.

Open Door Family Medical Centers needs volunteer readers for our Reach Out and Read early literacy waiting room program. Our volunteers read aloud to young patients, discuss the importance of reading aloud with parents, and distribute age-appropriate books. Anyone over 14 years of age is eligible and will be provided with an orientation and training designed to familiarize our volunteers with our facility, the mission of the program, and how to approach and connect with our patients. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills for communicating with children and families, promote a love of reading, make a difference in YOUR community! We have volunteer time-slots available Monday-Saturday in all four of our sites (Ossining, Mt. Kisco, Sleepy Hollow and Port Chester).
