SUMMER JAM LIVE TEEN CONCERT SERIES BRINGS HOT, UP-AND-COMING YOUNG MUSICIANS TO STEPPING STONES MUSEUM FOR CHILDREN.  This summer, talented, up-and-coming bands take to the Stepping Stones Museum for Children outdoor stage for a series of three Wednesday night concerts to benefit youth enrichment initiatives at the museum.   Teen pop sensation Kicking Daisies, voted by fans as Disney’s “Next Best Thing,” will rock the museum on Wednesday, June 27. Local bands Nothing2Simple and Avenues perform on Wednesday, July 11, and the concert series closes out with a battle of the bands on Wednesday, July 17.   The Summer Jam LIVE concert series gives teens an opportunity to rock out in an environment that is safe, stimulating and age appropriate. Concerts take place in the museum’s intimate Celebration Courtyard, which features a state-of-the-art sound and theatrical lighting system, high def monitors and plenty of room for fans to hang out.  Summer Jam LIVE tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. June 27 – Kicking Daisies
Connecticut-based Kicking Daisies blend pop, rock and a whole lot of energy with stunning musical skills. The group’s mix of catchy pop, evocative ballads and edgier rock anthems has solidified their status as rising stars. Richie Arthur, vocals and guitar, and Jeff Mauer, drums, recently joined the group’s original members, Ben Spremulli and Duran Visek. The group played for thousands of fans at the 2012 Earth Day Network Festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.  The various members of Kicking Daisies have shared the stage with Wyclef John, Colbie Caillait, Justin Bieber and the Jonas Brothers. The original members of Kicking Daisies won Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing competition and their single “Breathe” from the 2010 EP Keeping Secrets hit the Billboard charts.
July 11 – Nothing2Simple and Avenues
The West Haven, Conn., foursome, Nothing2Simple has performed in venues throughout Connecticut, including a special appearance on Channel 8 News. The group’s high-energy anthems blend rock, punk and emo influences that call to mind the music of Blink 182.  The group comprises Nathaniel Schull, pianist and vocalist; Matthew Velardi, guitarist and vocalist; Marc Prescott, drummer; and Billy McKane, guitarist. They are currently working on an EP titled “All’s Well That Ends Well.”  Avenues, a three-piece alternative/pop punk group out of Bethany, Conn., features Amity High School students Brendan Sullivan, vocalist and guitarist; Kyle Sullivan, drummer and vocalist; and Mike Minniti, bassist. They’ve released two singles and will debut their first full-length album this summer.
July 18 – The 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands
This night pits the best local bands selected by Fairfield County teen centers in a head-to-head competition and concert-goers will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite. The bands will compete to take home the Judge’s Choice Award and the People’s Choice Award. The teen center that submits the Judge’s Choice award band will win a signed, mounted, and framed photo of music legend, Paul McCartney of The Beatles!
