St. Mark’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner

in Featured Events, Non-Profit spotlight

St. Mark’s Martin E. Bancroft Memorial Community Thanksgiving Dinner.  We will host our annual community Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, November 22 from 12 noon to 3 pm in the parish hall.  This dinner is a community event involving volunteers and guests from all around the area. In 2011, we named the event in honor of Marty Bancroft, who had served as the ‘heart of the kitchen’ for 15 years and who passed away suddenly last November. Sara Amuso, Marty’s life partner and family members will carry on the tradition of running the kitchen. We are looking forward to the continued participation of St. Mark’s parishioners and members of Mt. Kisco and surrounding communities for this very special outreach event.  How can you get involved?  You can:  Communicate: help distribute flyers, Donate Food: Roasted Turkey (cooked), Pork Loin (uncooked), Fresh Fruit Salads, Black Beans & Rice, Desserts (pies, cakes, cookies), Deliver prepared food between 9:00 -11:30 a.m. on 11/22, Shop for food & supplies, Set up / decorate / clean up, Serve food and dine with the guests, Deliver food to homebound in the community (great way for families to get involved!).  Write a check!  Many hands, each contributing a little, will help to make it a special day.  Make it a family affair!  Your Thanksgiving meal will taste extra special as a result!  Over the last 4 years, we have been growing our service to the home bound, delivering meals to shut-ins who are unable to come to the parish hall. If you know someone who has difficulty getting out who would like a home delivered meal on Thanksgiving, please contact the coordinator: Paula Maiorano, (914) 830-3373.  Have questions or want to volunteer, please sign up in the Parish Hall entrance, call the Church office at 914 666-0858, or contact Barbara Leonard at 914 649-3918, barbaraleonard@optonline. Let’s spread the spirit of the St. Mark’s family to our community!
