On Sunday, October 7, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, an internationally accredited nonprofit guide dog school headquartered in Yorktown Heights, will host “Savor Your Senses” Wine Tasting & Concert Benefit.  Patrons will join renowned Master Sommelier Amy Dixon, blind musician Blessing Offor (from Bravo TV’s Platinum Hit), and other Guiding Eyes graduates for a unique music concert and wine tasting experience pairing five wines with five songs.  The wine tasting is presented courtesy of Vintology in Scarsdale. Ticket prices start at $60 per guest and include musical performance, wine tasting, a sparkling wine reception with hor d’oevres, and a full tour of the Guiding Eyes facility. Additionally, there are ticket options to receive a bottle of wine hand-selected by Dixon, as well as a copy of Blessing’s popular CD.  Dixon is a Certified Wine Specialist from the Society of Wine Educators and is studying to be a Master of Wine of which there are only 212 in the world, a mere dozen of them women. Funds raised from the wine tasting will support Guiding Eyes programs and services.  The Second Annual Guiding Eyes Wine Tasting will start at 3:00 p.m. and run until 5:30 p.m. Guiding Eyes for the Blind is located at 611 Granite Springs Road in Yorktown Heights. Since that time, Guiding Eyes has become one of the foremost guide dog schools in the world, graduating more than 7,000 guide dog teams. It provides superbly bred Guiding Eyes dogs, professional training and follow-up support services to students at no cost to them and depends on contributions to fulfill its mission. The comprehensive cost of breeding, raising, preparing, training, and supporting a Guiding Eyes team is $45,000.
