A great spot with kids or for a date night. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. Take the kids if you go early -- I mean 5:30 early. After that the wait can get a bit long.
I know, now I am pushing it-- 121 is a killer restaurant and bar with my favorite food in Westchester-- great American fare with delicious appetizers (try the hoison wings or duck spring rolls) and gourmet pizza with such special toppings as tuna with wasabi or truffle oil and mushrooms (although you can get a good plain margherita pizza for the kids too). Take the kids VERY early or sit downstairs in their less formal pizza area and you can enjoy an adult meal with happy little people on the side. Just FYI-- this is a very adult recommendation so be prepared-- bring a book or a little bag of toys to keep the kids happy. -- Gretchen, EssentialMom.com
Applebees
195 North Bedford Road, Mount Kisco & Hawthorne NY 914.241.6700
Typical fare, but sometime predictable is good! Kids can go wild, no chance anyone will hear them, much less get annoyed by them.
Typical fast-food fare. Kids will love the menu, you will love the child-friendly atmosphere. No one will worry about french fries on the floor. -- Gretchen, EssentialMom.com

Blind Charlie`s
Pound Ridge, NY
The food is great at this Pound Ridge favorite. It`s like a diner, but cleaner. A favorite for moms and kids both, it can be crowded for lunch, but a great, kid-friendly option.
Love their little ice cream counter in the summer too!
One of our favorite breakfast spots - during the week it`s not terribly crowded, but can definitely be packed on weekends. The kids love it and the breakfasts are great!
Candelight Inn
519 Central Park Avenue, Scarsdale, NY 914.472.9706
The candlelight is the place to go if you want to relive your college years...with the kids in tow. They have the best wings in westchester and plenty of other greasy-delicious goodies as well.
Typical diner fare, the nice thing is that it is very big, so there`s usually room for all.
City Limits is a huge diner. Good atmosphere, kid-friendly food, lots of seating. -- Gretchen, EssentialMom.com
This is the perfect place for the quicky play-date, coffee will do, lunch with the moms, etc. It is easy, there will usually be a table available and kids can`t possibly make too big a fuss to be noticed.
Cosi is an excellent place for lunch or dinner. The food is delicious, although I have to say some young children think the special bread is too hard. Lunch is fun and different when you are tired of fast food, but the lines can be difficult-- I would recommend this more if you have older children (over 5) or really young ones (who don`t eat or move yet) during lunch time. At night though, they turn the restaurant into a sit down pizza-type place- which is great- if you go early (before 7:00 p.m.), the lines are short and the service is fair. They play loud music, so no one notices the kids, and the specialty pizza, salads, and appetizers are good and definitely more interesting than the usual pizza fare. -- gretchen, essentialmom.com
My only issue with Cosi is that it is CROWDED-- go early and get a table if you`re headed there. Salads are great.
Gates

Gates is a delicious alternative-- great food, comfortable surroundings. It can get crowded on weekends for brunch, but it`s worth the wait. -- gretchen, essentialmom.com
Lefteris is a fantastic Greek spot. Plenty of kid-friendly menu options-- with typical burgers, chicken fingers, and grilled cheese, but offering something different for the parents. We have even convinced our son that he like Tzatziki! Yum. --gretchen, essentialmom.com
We love the food at Lefteris, as do our kids. We always do takeout or delivery (their delivery is FAST) but the food is always fresh and well done. The kids love the feta cheese, hummus and pita, and gyro - the pastitsio is also a big hit with both us and the pasta loving kid. The greek salads that come with their dinners are great - the dressing is terrific!
The food is good, the usual American fare but a bit upscale. Go early with the kids or wait for a special occasion. Also perfect for a quick and easy date night. -- gretchen, essentialmom.com
A great spot for a fun Saturday lunch or Sunday brunch. A beautiful old inn with typical inn menu. Good enough for the kids, fun for adults. -- gretchen, essentialmom.com
McArthur`s American Grill

Good burgers, great cesear salad, and try the shoestring fries. Kid-friendly enough, but also a favorite casual date night. -- gretchen, essentialmom.com

Muscoot Inn

If you are looking for an old favorite, look no further. The roof looks like it might cave, but it`s a great spot over. Get a beer, a chicken parm sandwich and relax. In the summer walk over and finish your night at the King Cone ice cream shack next door. gretchen, essentialmom.com
Better for a date night, but ok for kids too.
North Star
Pound Ridge, NY
Great for a date night (after the typical family hours), fun bar, live music on Thursdays. Also, good early for the youngsters.
O`Malleys in Mount kisco is really good if you go on the early side any night ( 5-8). They have booths with a television in each of them that you and or your children can control. The have a kids menu! The service is friendly! The burgers are really good as is the rest of the menu which offers pub fare with a few twists
(similar menu to Michaels in Pleasantville) We have been there a few times know and each time we go there are more families there.

I`m a big fan of Q in Port Chester and very excited for the Mt. Kisco branch to open! The food is good and the atmosphere is fun.
It is open! Mount Kisco opened recently and we just tried it out, it`s amazing. Tables and seating are very casual and easy. Wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was delicious!!! Definitely a great new option with a different menu.
A great choice when you need a nicer dinner spot but you still need to include the kids. Their kids menu is varied, with lots of great choices, and they are very accommodating to children. Paper on the tables and crayons - gotta love it. The food is good - has ranged from fine to very good depending on the visit and the item ordered. I`d recommend going on the earlier side with kids - it can get crowded later (and the service sometimes gets harried).
A classic kids place, they have a menu full of burgers, macaroni, and chicken fingers. Coloring menus and crayons at the table, vintage cars and swag hanging from the ceiling. Not a quiet dinner for the romantic at heart, but it will certainly amuse the kids. -- gretchen, essentialmom.com

The Blazer Pub
Rte. 22 (I-684, exit 7) Purdy`s NY 914.277.4424
The Blazer Pub harkens me back to college days with the feel of its dark bar, juke box, and bar games. They serve the best burger in Westchester County with thick potato slabs and blooming onions to top off the menu. Not a good one for the diet, but if you`re looking for a beer and a burger, this is the spot to hit. Despite the bar atmosphere which could be deemed inappropriate by the faint at heart, this is as family-friendly as you can get. It is loud, crowded, and no one will notice your baby dropping things! Go early or call ahead if you have a large group-- The Blazer is often packed, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. The kids will love the games and the juke box, so bring your spare quarters. -- gretchen, essentialmom.com
