As part of the national Week of the Young Child (April 22-28, 2012), Mount Kisco Child Care Center (MKCCC) will recognize young children and all those who make a difference in children’s lives. As part of the celebration, MKCCC will host a special Literacy Adventure on Friday, April 20 beginning at 6:30p.m. at the tea house at Leonard Park in Mount Kisco. Literacy Adventures bring together families and children to share books and stories to build a life-long love of reading. This month we will be reading the story Rainbow Fish by Mark Pfister. Light dinner will be served as toddlers and preschoolers are invited to participate in an art activity. In addition to the Literacy Adventure, local businesses including Ladle of Love, Table Local Market, and TASTE Gourmet, will support MKCCC’s celebrations, featuring recipes from the Center’s Feed Me Fresh comprehensive nutrition program. The Week of the Young Child, sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is an opportunity for early childhood programs across the country, including child care and Head Start programs, preschools, and elementary schools, to hold activities to bring awareness to the needs of young children.
