Tummy Time and Beyond will teach activities that are fun for parents and great for babies’ development. Parents will leave each session with activities and strategies to use at home with their infants to promote healthy gross and fine motor development. The striking duality of deadly weaponry forged with artistic beauty is on full display in Lethal Beauty: Samurai Weapons and Armor at the Katonah Museum of Art, October 12, 2014 – January 4, 2015. With 63 works by master craftsmen from the 13th to 20th centuries, the exhibition features five full sets of armor, masks, helmets, and warrior hats. Remarkable weapons include long and short swords, daggers, and examples of early Japanese rifles. chappemomadMore than 80 renowned children’s book authors and illustrators will be participating in the second annual Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival (CCBF), recently voted “Best Bookworm Event” by Westchester Magazine. The Festival will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Robert Bell Middle School in Chappaqua, N.Y. from 10am – 4pm. Books will be available for sale, local food vendors from around the region will offer great eats, and the 5th Annual Great Chappaqua Bake Sale will be selling baked treats and raffle tickets to benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to end childhood hunger. The Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester (BGCNW) will host its 20th annual golf tournament Tuesday, September 16 at GlenArbor Golf Club, 234 Bedford Center Road, Bedford Hills. The tournament is part of the Club’s year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary, and past supporters and Club alumni are encouraged to participate. Registration begins at 9 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. brunch buffet and 11 a.m. shotgun start. Cocktails, hand-rolled cigars, and a buffet dinner will follow the tournament at 4:30 p.m., which will include an awards presentation and live and silent auctions. Sea Scouts Ship 30 and Trinity Cruises present – BOAT SAFETY!   This upcoming Saturday, July 19th bring your family down for a free, fun, and informative afternoon at Riverfront Green in Peekskill, NY where you will learn boat safety. This includes proper use of life jackets, radios, distress signals as well as fishing and personal water craft safety. It is interesting and fun to learn about how to safely navigate the water.  For kids we will have coloring and information for water based youth programs.  Peekskill’s Riverfront Green Park also offers a shelter for picnics and a playground for playing so bring the family and come out to enjoy a fun Saturday in the park!
