FRIENDS OF THE FARMER, an organization that supporters family farms in the Hudson Valley, will host a “Meet the Chef – Meet the Farmer” collaboration featuring Ridge Hill restaurant chefs cooking up delicious seasonal recipes and presentations on farm fresh ingredients. The Junior League of Central Westchester’s 27th Annual Holiday Boutique. The event will be held on Wednesday November 6th from 6pm to 10pm and Thursday November 7th, from 9am to 3pm, at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, NY.  The Junior League of Central Westchester is inviting local residents to start their holiday shopping early at the 27th annual Holiday Boutique. There will be a series of vendors, and many local businesses offering a variety of goods. The event promises many exciting features, including merchandise from [more than] 40 vendors, plated samples from some of Westchester’s premiere restaurants, wine, spirits and beer tastings. Proceeds will benefit the JLCW’s programs that support the local community.

Center for Literacy Enrichment Offering ‘Homework Helper’ After-School Drop-In Program.  The Center for Literacy Enrichment-Pace University is offering a new Homework Helper Program four days a week from 3:00 – 6:00 PM for students in grades 1 – 12.  Certified teachers are available to help children tackle their assignments in all subjects, including complex concepts in Math and Science. The Neighbors Link “Women and the Global Immigrant Experience” luncheon will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at GlenArbor Golf Club in Bedford Hills, NY.  Maria Otero, former Undersecretary of State for President Obama’s administration, and former President and CEO of Accion International (the largest microfinance institution in the world today) will speak about empowering women in her talk titled “Women and the Global Immigrant Experience.” Proceeds from the event will benefit Neighbors Link Northern Westchester, a not-for-profit community center in Mt. Kisco, NY that provides education and employment opportunities for immigrant families in Northern Westchester.  The Neighbors Link 2013 “Women and the Global Immigrant Experience” Luncheon is organized by the Friends of Neighbors Link.  At our luncheon, Ms. Otero will share her experience successfully empowering women around the world and provide us with her insights on how we can do the same in our own communities. Ms. Otero has influenced millions of lives in the United States and internationally. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn from an inspirational leader who has helped to alleviate global poverty through microfinance, sustainable development and other initiatives. The 29th Annual Chappaqua Craft and Gift Fair is back and better than ever!  This year’s fair will take place on Saturday, November 9th from 10am to 4pm at Robert E. Bell Middle School, 50 Senter Street in Chappaqua.  Stop by this year’s Chappaqua Craft and Gift Fair to admire the work of local merchants, crafts people and artists while supporting PTA-run enrichment programs at Bell Middle School.  The Craft Fair will feature over 100 vendors exhibiting their fine handmade pottery, unique handcrafted jewelry, designer clothing, handbags and accessories, bath and beauty products and myriad other unique and original items just in time for Holiday gift season.  The Chappaqua Craft and Gift Fair is the largest fundraising event held by the Bell PTA and provides the PTA with most of the funding for such important student enrichment programs as The Jacob Burns Film Center Media Literacy program, Bell Reading Lounge, Character Education, The Hudson Valley Shakespeare workshops as well as nutrition, sustainability, and after school programming in environmental studies, supplemental music programs and computer programs.   The Bell PTA also offers scholarships for field trips, after school programs and other needs for families and studies with financial needs.  Free Parking is available in the small lot on Senter Street or in the larger main lots off South Greeley Avenue and at the Chappaqua Train Station.  FREE ADMISSION for All!  For more information see www.chappaquacraftfair.com
